Our Eucalyptus – Smithii is derived from the plants leaves and is organically grown in South Africa and/or Swaziland. It has a bitter-sweet and fruity aroma but is softer and more pleasant than other Eucalyptus oil versions. It is also sometimes known as the narrow-leaved peppermint. The leaves are dried, crushed and distilled to release the oil. This plant is now mindfully cultivated because the tree’s existence is threatened so it needs to be preserved.
In aromatherapy it is use for its anti-depressant effect and is often used to reduce anxiety and pain in post-operative patients as shown in this study. Eucalyptus – Smithii contains 1,8-Cineole and regular inhalation may reduce pain and inflammatory responses. There are so many more other benefits to Eucalyptus oil.
Our popular Defensor™ blend contains Eucalyptus oil.
