Cedarwood – Cedrus atlantica – is a woody essential oil that is believed to relax, uplift and give oxygen. Cedarwood oil is derived from various types of conifers, most in the pine or cypress botanical families. It is produced from the foliage, and sometimes the wood, roots, and stumps which have been left after cutting of trees for timber extraction.
The Cedar is a symmetrical tree and symbolises the source of protection, wisdom, incorruptibility & abundance. “Strength to be firm”. Ancient Egyptians used oil from Cedar trees in their embalming process, which in effect helped to keep insects from disturbing the body.
